OMG, I've totally missed watching my Sengoku Basara II ever since I left off at episode 7 or 8.

Eh, Goulart Knights have been postponed to Dec 25? And Starry Sky postponed to December too? WHY?! Oh well, at least I'll have less anime to bug me this sem. I mean, 3 labs are killing me. And my CSC203 lab2 doesn't work perfectly well (not according to what I want) though if I can come up with some explanation I believe I can get my marks, lol.

Whee~ I say, learn 3ds max, dammit. Oh well, I shall spend my free time tomorrow learning how to screw with 3ds max (I need to create my own objects anyway) and during meeting, mess with the implicit fantasies. I've a pretty good idea what I want to create with the 3 equations I'm supposed to implement. And as for morphing, I've also saved a space in my studio (can't really call it a home since I modeled after a simple version of my music school) to place that too. Yep, after so many tries on PB, I've decided to export the files only after I'm certain I won't touch PB again. I will not reopen it anymore, since everything else is all 3ds max and VRMLpad.

What laptop should I bring tomorrow...? OS Win7 or XP...

I better learn how to use 3DS Max. PlaceBuilder is giving me too many problems for my liking, especially in the exporting of files. One can't reopen them in PlaceBuilder without losing the colour. Kinda sucks even though I kept renaming my files so as to preserve my first original copy. I have to at least learn how to create shapes out of 3DS max...even if my "house" turns out like a teapot or something. *coughBeautyandtheBeastcough* I wonder if I can try editing and adding textures with Room Arranger since it's somewhat better than PB (more items, easier to resize) but I'll have to add in my own textures to make it more realistic and acceptable. And then it still boils down to 3ds max and VRMLpad to add in the sensor family.

Anyway, I can't figure out why my CSC203 bonus can't work. I've put it in different places. Can't work. Though it's only an optimisation, if so many are doing it, I can't lose out either. It's all about competition after all. I know I rely a lot on my friends to guide me through programming (yes I suck at programming. Don't ask why I'm in this course), and I'm grateful for all their help. I want to do well in csc204 because I like the topic, even if the software grates on my nerves more than half of the time (why can't they at least TEACH us how to use the basics of 3ds max instead of throwing us to the wolves? Teach less learn more my arse. No wonder the education ranking went down the rabbit hole........)

It's late. I better go. Have to complete csc203 by tomorrow, and figure out how to use Google Sketch-up in the meantime.........

Eh, I think I'm taking a liking to vocaloid songs because the songs simply cover every kind of genre (as in, lyrics-wise. I mean, where else can you find fantasy elements in a song but a composition not sung by official artistes?), not because I like the electronic voices -.- I like GakupoxLuka the best though.

The only song I find best sung by real voices is Sabishii Nettaigyo. I cannot tolerate the vocaloid version. And Tezuka-Sanada duet was really good if you ask me. I love their version of Sabishii Nettaigyo, can never get tired of listening to this song because of that XDD

Shatyin has a boyfriend now! I didn't know until I saw her profile appear in my feed, with her dp changed. Wah, not bad not bad, the first in our clique to get a boyfriend! ^^

Gah, I think I'll have to learn 3ds max AND finish building my virtual house by Friday, since I can only use 3ds max and VRMLpad in school. In the meantime, during the weekend, I'll be searching for stuff for my touch sensors, mostly just music and light, then implement them in lab2. I want to get started on Experiment 2 anyway, and I'm not as lazy as Desmond to find a ready-made house then just implement all the extra stuff.

I'm tempted to do so though. But I still need to make all the touch sensors, viewpoints, everything...stupid PlaceBuilder without its upgrade, and it's impossible to reopen one's file without losing all the colours....sucks big time...We still need to use 3ds max to create our items anyway (like my books, scores...)

I've no idea if I can display as a html, but it can run as an applet =) I'm happy that my lab2 is done, even if I didn't work on the bonus A+. Truthfully, it doesn't matter whether you get A or A+ - it's still 5.0 points. And if the assessment follows the marking scheme, everyone would have gotten As already. Nah, I believe when they ask for the explanation, it's all about your own understanding of what you've learnt. If you understand and explain the program well, fantastic. Here's your A served in a golden platter.

Now to polish up my stupid virtual house. PlaceBuilder really sucks. I can't reopen the file without my images going bonkers like nobody's business. I'll try to learn the basics of 3D Studio Max (3ds max) within, like, less than two days (since 8 hours are gone already). If not, I'll try Room Arranger...

I feel like just creating a single-leveled music school, similar to Emmanuel ie small rooms. Morphing shapes? Implicit fantasies? Part of the garden then ^^ No need to worry too much about what to put in the room...or maybe I need, if I want to find 3D statue heads of Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Liszt, Haydn, Chopin...XD Just their images as portraits is enough thanks.

There was a make-up 183 lecture which none of us were able to go because it clashed with our lectures. My friends and I saw the lecturer on our way to lunch and somehow, I felt a little guilty for wanting to skip his lectures. If anything, the last thing a lecturer wants is to conduct a lecture in an empty hall. I'll be attending the Wednesday ones, but Thursday? Er...I don't fancy a 4-hour break doing nothing...

Yeah, I know. I attended the hw110 lecture to its last, to a hall of only 4 students. Even when I finished my oral speech in class. Maybe they should just stick to combined tutorial and lecture, like the hw210 last sem. Smart idea. No one can escape it if class participation is involved and the tutor knows your face.

Then, a bonus to get A+ (which I'm not sure if it's really true, since you have to explain the concepts well, as in you-know-your-stuff well in order to score at least an A).

Two rooms: one bedroom, one living room. Urgh, maybe I'll save my Japanese house for self-project that I can upload onto my blog or something =)

Oo, just discovered another manga called Aphorism! I've seen it around but have no idea what it is. Hmm, wonder if I can add it to the cosplay list. School life, fantasy, battle, and bloody enough....=) Aphorism is more than a quote - it contains philosophical, moral and/or literal principles and is usually original. Surf the net for more info - the internet's all yours.

Chinese translations of Aphorism here. 3 volumes so far. English here. But I need to sleep now. My brain just fried from debugging my code. Stupid elevator fears the dark bottomless pit. Refuses to come down. I did make it go down, but it was the wrong way. When I tried implementing it elsewhere, it messed up the whole animation. Okay, Weiyang started it. First writing in haiku, then he wanted Shakespearian classic style. I suggested poetry, something I'm pretty good at. I wrote poetry since before my teens, back when my friend and I were into poetry writing and establishing our command of the English language.

And yes, there is a forum thread to be written in haiku form. I love writing my haiku - they range from pretty words to commentary style. Here're two:

Gundam 00: Awakening of the Trailblazer

Hmm...I don't know what to say about the Gundam 00 movie. Senpai to tomodachi say it's crap. In what way is it crap? The plot? The ending?

I shall not comment my own thoughts about the movie on whole, except...why the hell did Graham die? Why didn't that cockroach die? Okay, he's just a comic relief, haha. But seriously..........the ending was wtf. Setsuna became the bridge between ELS and humans by becoming a metallic Innovator. I get the message about understanding each other being the key to resolving conflict, but using aliens.........? What happened to Celestial Being later?

All I can say is, if you don't like the story, write one yourself on how you want it to be. The director can't please everyone. I won't say it's crap, but I can't say it's good either. Let's keep my neutrality as it is. I mean, what IS your definition of a good movie? What IS your definition of a good plot? Interesting characters? Anyone can be made interesting. Unexpected twists and turns in a plot? What kind are you referring to? The ending sure is surprising, but not necessarily good. Good movie? Are you talking about the storyline and how everything is portrayed, or a storyline that boggles your mind and leaves you thinking about would-be paradoxes and unsolved puzzles (like Inception)? Because seriously, what kind of ending sequel are you expecting from Gundam 00? Or even mecha series in general? I'm not saying this because I'm biased against mecha. I'm asking, what do you want exactly? All I see are a bunch of politics and lots of fighting in outer space and sometimes on earth. Mecha are fighting machines set in the future. What else can you do with one? Set it in the Victorian era and expect to come up with a delicious plot involving family politics, arranged marriages and many assassination attempts? Or throw it in a fantasy world where one must constantly remind him/herself that the magic and mythical beasts exist? Is Gundam 00 any different, except it portrays terrorism from the real world, involves politics, and the moral of the story is 'to resolve peace, understanding each other is the key'? Rather I would say it's trying to reflect our current world and no one's paying a shit to it even if they say the anime series is intriguing enough in whatever season.

Senpai-who-know-more-mecha-anime-than-me would disagree and say older mecha anime are better. Fine. Suki ni shiro. If you're so good at criticising you can always come up with your own storyline. We have this thing called FANFICTION. Go ahead, write your own fanfiction on how you want the story to go. That's what fanfics are for - to read alternate versions of original stories, to express your "ideal" storyline, to support your favourite pairings. In fanfics, you are god. You can kill whoever you like. You can not kill whoever you like. You can choose.

Me? I'm just an ignorant little girl who should "watch more good stuff" and follow the crowd. THEIR crowd.

Sgaile's name

I changed the name of this blog. It's the name of an assassin elf who died in The Noble Dead series by Barb & JC Hendee. He was one of my favourite characters, and he had to die because of a misunderstanding, prejudice and mistake. I nearly stabbed my fork into the pages (yes I was eating my spaghetti that time, several months ago). His name sounds nice, and I used his short form as my game name.

Oh, there's a sequel to the Nobel Dead series, featuring Wynn instead of Maguire and Leesil. Yay. I quite like the Chane and Wynn pair - must find the books (even though I probably have no time to read them now).

Hmm, meeting at 2pm tomorrow, my piano lesson ends at 12pm or so, I'll leave at 1.15pm...I've time to pop by the library and do some work. Me not going to waste my concession and travelling time, bah.

Yes I AM repulsed by how uke-ish the uke is. and even more repulsed by one AizenXGin doujin in which Aizen forced Gin under his wing and he had no choice because he wanted to protect Rangiku. Attended the first Mecha cosplay event at West Coast Plaza. and met the guy with 2 dollfies. I'm sorry I didn't catch your name, and even more sorry I didn't recognise you...or maybe I did but didn't dare catch your attention in case I mistook the wrong person.

Let's just say, even if it's karaoke, one should train his/her vocals, or at least choose a song that suits his/her vocals better. If you're able to sing rock and ballad, good for you. (I don't think I can sing rock without sounding like I'm singing ballad, lol. Gimme a slow song anytime, preferably one that stretches my vocals XDD) If you can't sing those high-power songs, then don't bother straining your vocals.

I'm saying this from a musician's point of view. I'm sorry if I may offend people, but I've been trained, albeit not as professionally as those with degree in music, and certainly not in vocals. Unfortunately, I know what grates on my ears, and going out of tune or simply having no sense of tune is a major blasphemy. Kage kaichou, while you have nightmares, I'll be trying to recover my ears. Mimi ga itai yo!

If I could contribute to AniW blog as a music analyst, I would. I probably won't describe it like those critics who can spin lovely phrases to describe the instrumental music they hear in a recital or concert, but I can comment on the tune and lyrics and how it fits the scene.

Hmm, I could start doing that...once I get my 2nd VAS anthology plot out in draft form. Then again, I am but one person. Each person has different opinions regarding the music. For instance, I just started listening to My Soul, Your Beats (Angel Beats! OP). Okay, I like the piano intro and the first 2 stanzas, but I don't like the composition of the chorus. Somehow it doesn't fit the song. Yes, I had the exact same thought when I first heard Kufufu no Fu - damn you Mukuro for that bloody samba chorus - but I soon grew to accept it...after I started listening to it more often to learn how to sing. Maybe My Soul, Your Beats will grow on me in time, but I never watched the anime, I don't feel like watching it now, and I don't like the storyline. Sure, there's fighting and all, but I think I'll rather watch The Legend of the Legendary Heroes aka The Anime with a Cheesy Title after it ends. The trailer looks interesting.

My apologies, I totally gave up watching most of the Summer anime. One, no time; two, I think I'd rather marathon, three, not my type.

I found myself in a thread titled "Phrases you're sick of hearing." It is amusing, haha. I don't mind catchphrases from characters, because they ARE catchphrases that make the character unique (like Naruto's "Dattebayo" and all those from Tenipuri for example). But cliche ones like "KYA~ So hot, so cool, so absolutely perfect!" or "I'll make you fall in love with me" (yes, pointing at shoujo and maybe BL - from what I know) or "I hate you!" *runs off* is so passe. And gods, every time I hear this "You're a girl. You shouldn't fight." I want to PUNCH the idiot who said this. If the girl is obviously strong and practically an Amazon warrior, saying that line to her guarantees an immediate black eye.

Even if said girl blushes and goes all doki doki because he treats her like a female. Right.....tell that to anyone of us in real-life and we'll show you just how feminine we are.

"I'll make you mine." ERM...I'll say "Go ahead and try." just to prove my point.

"You belong to me." Possessiveness is fine, but under certain circumstances only will I accept this line in a story. If you're the resident badass who either plays around with girls then start being serious with one, I'll say, damn, it's too cliche.

And the most cliche of all: "I will have my revenge." Then poof, he/she is gone, either dead or very weak. If you're dead, don't bother saying this line.

Or maybe Gin's eyes are just betraying him(her). This is where seme-Ichigo comes in. I know I'm blurring the line between seme and uke with my usage even in hetero context, but I really don't know any otaku jargon (if any at all) regarding alpha, more dominant males, like those males from novels that the American writers love to describe. At least the more alpha males like Usui in KwMS.

Angel Beats, an afterlife anime with a so-called sad ending (passing on is sad?! Come on, you haven't watched enough anime/read enough manga where the author kills off our favourite characters! *points at Naruto*). It'll be cool to cosplay them, unfortunately, I'd prefer the more obscure, lesser known anime/manga if we were to form a cosplay group. I of course will do a guy.

I wonder about watching Angel Beats. I did harbour an interest after reading about the action, but decided not to pursue it because I had no time. Maybe I'll put it on my waiting list. Then again, when I saw Angel playing the grand piano in the OP, I totally went into music mode.

Someone gimme a character who can play the piano, I want to cosplay him.

Was reading SWOT, and the debate on the "goodness" of this manga. I can see how some like or don't like the manga with its sudden fantasy elements (aka naming powers), I have no opinions as of yet (seeing that it has only 9 chapters so far) but I have to agree with "Don't like, don't read." Or rather, "Don't like, don't bother to continue reading." I practise that myself. If I don't like, I won't waste my time. But I won't post this since it's kinda irritating to see it.

Some manga/anime we'll like, some manga/anime we'll hate. No one series is everyone's cup of tea. So don't flame just because you don't like. Flaming and criticism is different. I say I dislike Twilight because the plot is not interesting, too cheesy for my taste, I keep it at that (though many otaku might agree with me, haha). I will not watch Highschool of the Dead because it's not my cup of tea no matter how supernatural it is (the ecchi and harem simply puts me off). Romance? Gimme a good, preferably non-cliche plot please. Something like Kaichou wa Maid-sama MANGA. That last scene of Misaki in the latest chapter made me go HELL YEAH, THIS IS HOW SHOUJO MANGA HEROINES SHOULD BE LIKE!

Anyway, I just started listening to some of Fuji's album Big Wave. I had it from a month ago, then I suddenly heard this song COLOR, a duet with Hirakoba. I FREAKING LOVE THIS SONG. I don't know, I like the tune. I like songs in minor keys, they tend to sound more sentimental, more heartfelt. I'm fine with major keys, but minor keys stand out more.

I don't feel like watching any anime now that school has started...except for those I'm watching merely for the sake of watching, and because they're going to end soon...

I am looking forward to Kuroshitsuji II ova. Omg, the Hollywood-style behind-the-scenes is so unexpected! Humour and parody ftw!

Evaluating pros and cons of taking the Jap lessons

I got the latest slot for HMJ2, Tue & Fri 5.30-7pm. Initially I wanted to change because I want to fill my Thursday, but come to think of it, if my teacher wants the Thursday slot for make-up lessons or when I need to change my piano lesson time (especially AFA), I can make it (by skipping the 183 lecture)

But language lessons begin on week 2. Meaning, I won't be able to go to the music workshop on 24 Sep AT ALL, not unless I skip that particular tutorial. (my friends will just say "Your jap can make it so don't need to fret too much. It's only the 5th lesson." or "Get the notes from Chui Eng.") Mine begins on 7 Sep...and 7 Sep is the resume writing workshop.

I have a valid reason for being half an hour late.

Okay, so I'll be taking UE this sem. Next sem I must clear either AHSS or Science PE, though I'd prefer clearing AHSS first since I can always leave my Science PE for Year 4 (I might push my Prof Comm to Year 3 sem 1 in conjunction with the Business PE).

Yes I'm planning and maximizing full use of my allocated AUs.

...Life sucks...not that I haven't known and experienced it already....

Just read the latest Bleach chapter. If Ichigo looks like that in his early twenties, I'll be happy. Him going all serious and calm before a thunderstorm is really cool.

Unfortunately, I don't appreciate people portraying me in a way that makes me look OOC. Firstly, Hibari is NOT a shinigami, Gin is. So naturally he (Hibari) is an imposter. Secondly, Hibari doesn't have a purple tie, so technically that isn't me. Thirdly, Hibari is not that weak - he doesn't care if the opponent is male or female as long as he gets to bite them to death. Touhou or not, one should do research on the character before introducing the character when making parodies or crossovers. Hibari is strong. If it were Tsuna, then it might have worked....

Maybe because I prefer humour in a more canon way. Meaning, I like humour where it fits, where it makes sense, and the character is portrayed in a way he would be expected to react if given such a situation. In layman's terms, in-character.

Perhaps I shouldn't take offense and merely laugh it off as a joke, but still, I'm not as open as one thinks when it comes to things like that.

And yes, I do carry out threats, though I won't do it to such and extent where one's life is forfeit. But yes, I will have my revenge.
