It's not everyday I blog about my opinions on non-fandom topics. But this article demonstrates part of the reason why I'm vehemently against seeking a career with the degree I hold. Though in my society, the type of honours you get plays a part as well. First impressions, where First Class Honours = very smart = you seem promising I shall hire you?

How do you justify those who are academically smart but can't do a single shit to save their lives then? Or those who pay others to write their reports for them? Or those who "borrow" codes from others and pass off as their own perfect copies?

Back to the argument, I shall only say this - I am sick and tired of misogynistic comments that have no base and stem from sexism. Men have men's pride, so do women. Weak heroines are no different from weak heroes - they are both loathsome. Idiotic females are no different from idiotic males - both are stupid idiots. Cowards are cowards. Generalising yes, but honestly, the specifics aren't so important that people need to wage wars over it.

In general, it's all the same.

I felt like I wasted my four years. Because some projects screwed up my grades, when instead I could have scored better. Some courses screwed up. My internship was screwed up. (Like really, tell me how would you feel if your boss told you you're never going to get beyond a B+ because 'your project is not research-based'?) My FYP was screwed up. (I'm not so free to keep coming down to your company to discuss and not make progress because you tell me all the information is wrong, you can't give me the information by the deadline etc. You have your work; I have my work. Don't come to me AFTER I've already presented my abysmal project just so you can continue working on it when all I want to do is graduate. I don't deserve all these.)

I could have graduated with better results. I am not a grade A student - I got through because of hard work, the competition I face pushing me on to be better, to do my best to outshine my peers. It...waned. Because I realised one thing - it matters not. Grades matter not. Ultimately, it is what you want to do, who you want to be, that precedes trivial things. We have many possibilities; the choices we make shape our lives, make us who we are.

I'm waiting for the part where they say "Your work experience is more important than the degree or diploma you hold."

I don't particularly like to engage in discussions. Especially when there are people who have a need to prove themselves right even though the truth of matters isn't out yet.

I keep my opinions to myself, and listen. That's all I will do. Particularly in light of the whole Urobutcher and Gaim plotline issue. It doesn't make me less intelligent - I merely prefer to keep my thoughts to myself. Plus I'm not very passive when it comes to arguments either. I prefer to avoid conflict as much as possible.

A firm rule of mine - never be the one to start a conflict. I can manipulate people into starting a conflict, which isn't purely my fault. But well, it's their problem for rising to the bait. Who the hell came up with that logic? It could be true, yes, but it doesn't apply to all. Sometimes we have OTPs because we simply love the interactions between the characters, we love all the subtle and blatant hints that connect the characters together. How we justify our OTPs is another matter too, since we all have our own preferences. I have friends who ships their favourite characters with EVERYONE.

I like ships that simply ooze a deep bond, how they would go through everything thick and thin together simply because they have an unspoken vow to each other, or those childhood friendships because it shows that they have a history.

I am not afraid to say that I might just be influenced by Sherlock's apathetic, somewhat inability to comprehend human emotion, at times. I did grow up reading the original Sherlock Holmes novels after all. So when I am met with personal issues, l might not react typically.

I don't quite agree with my friends' words of comfort, but I chose to remain silent. It's something I have to deal with myself. And I can safely bet that if I never said anything, no one will know, and it'll merely be a sign of my mental depravity. Or how much of a recluse I am. It's bound to piss everyone off for sure. They know I don't always say what I think. Too bad then. I'm no saint. Plus they have more important things to do than listen to me "crave attention". *shrug*

I am trying to stop myself from rewatching BBC Sherlock just because I am up-to-date with the latest episode in less than a week. *shrugs* Just like how I tried to stop myself from rewatching the Tolkien movies in my possession immediately after I finished The Unexpected Journey.

Space Dandy, Noragami, Nobunaga the Fool, Fliondeso Touch, Gun Gale Online....Ok, I might watch Gun Gale Online because it's my favourite SAO arc. Plus I never pass up the chance for androgynous, long-haired pretty boys. Even though I like elves, Alfheim Online doesn't hold as much interest for me.

Spring 2014 always has more anime that pique my interest.

Lightseeker

I watched the LightSeeker musical at Resorts World Sentosa yesterday. Simply put, it was brilliant. The plot is simple, nothing too deep (because, it is supposed to attract families, tourists, people who want fun in general. After all, Sentosa IS a tourist attraction. Go somewhere else if you want a more serious musical with deeper plot and broadway standard singing XD), but the visuals, the music and dance choreography was awesome.

I was seated seven rows from the front. Aka I could see the actors' faces clearly, their expressions, and the costumes and props. The costumes were pretty. The props, wow. It's a musical with stunning visuals and acrobatics. A performance.

My favourite song is Only A Man by the General. I fell in love with the chorus dammit. I even bought the CD just so I could listen to the songs.

And, er, when I saw the hairstyle for the General's revealed face, I snorted. Elves. XD

I want more of these musicals. I swear I will go to the next one when it comes, if only just to be dazzled by the music and dancing and lights. I do agree that it's not broadway standard - and I want to go to one someday - but it's good enough for this haha. I mean, it's like Tenimyu s2 but with better singing?

I confess; I'm attached to my kids from a certain school. So when I saw my planned schedule for the months leading to SYF, I was slightly miffed. Because I only get to teach there once. No choice, but at least the other school I go to has a higher chance of getting gold.

Still, when I say attached, I really mean attached. OTL To the point that I am seriously considering adding them on FB (of course, I'll put them in a list so that they don't see everything on my wall).

Once they asked, "Why must you be different from other teachers?" To which I answered, "Why must I be similar to other teachers?" I had other students asking me "Why are you so cool?"

Because, I AM cool. It's part of my personality. It's not an act - I AM cool. Not in the looks department, which is seriously lacking I daresay. (I AM THE HARSHEST CRITIC OF MYSELF) I strive to be a BAMF as and when I can, with a strong dose of sarcasm and puns on the side.

Happy New Year 2014! To a year of toku goodness, fantastic cosplays and fun!

Resolution I have none, goals I have plenty.

Current goals:

• help my schools achieve at least Silver for SYF
• a successful arrangement or two
• a medley

This arrangement is fantastic. Dammit I really love orchestral arrangements. When will the day come where I can do one for one song? It'll be like a parting gift for myself, and I will make sure not to give up halfway.

It'll be my focus, my anchor, my hope.
