Choices

I just saw my friend's LTCL results and I am sincerely happy for her. (She got a distinction. Which is wow.) My first thought was "It goes to show how good our piano teacher is. Probably increases her reputation as well, hehe."

My second thought was "Why the hell are MY results there??!! It's been 6 years! And it pales in comparison, coz mine's just ATCL."

My third thought "What the hell does the examiner mean by 'Too French'? What bullshit is this? Haydn isn't French! Well, the other two are."

Which makes me ponder about the many possibilities in life. The choices we made. I made the choice to quit piano, mostly due to school work. I could have continued my lessons to take up LTCL and perhaps strive for another distinction, with a repertoire I selected. I knew what I wanted to perform for LTCL.

(FYI: Debussy's Estampes all three movements, Takemitsu's Rain-Tree Sketches no. 1 and/or no. 2, Ravel Miroirs no. 4: Alborada del gracioso. Unless they find it too Impressionistic, then I might er, consult my teacher and dump a Romantic piece somewhere.)

But I gave it up for cosplay, a hobby which exposed me to new things and new people. Though it is a pity (after all, I had music potential), I didn't regret my choice - I have good friends whom I love and want to bitchslap sometimes. I learnt new skills. I met new people, and will meet new people.

Except, I miss my piano. I really do. But I have no motivation to learn several new, challenging songs that I can memorise. Songs I can enjoy.

It's a pity. But it's a choice I made. And I don't regret it much.

Now if only I can just find a few songs to learn and memorise......

Much as I enjoy fooling people with my age,  I don't look scary at all. I look harmless. Not sweet, not cute, no baby face, no doll face and doe eyes. I just look friendly. Approachable. Bullyable. Easily defied. Some weakling who probably storms off pouting while everyone laughs at me.

And naturally, people don't take me seriously. Why? Looks are soooooo deceiving. Sooooooo much that they just love to get me worked up.

I'm not even a Star Trek fan. Hell, I only watched the 2009 Alternate movies? Not enough to constitute me as a Star Trek fan, just someone who knows what the series is roughly about. I think I know more about LOTR and BBC Sherlock and Dr Who than Star Trek. I DID read the Sherlock novels after all.

My friend is an asshole. I don't even play touhou. I recognise the theme songs. And the doujin albums by Tutti Sound are eargasm because, I love full orchestral works. Floating Cloud does Irish and folk arrangements, which also appeal to me.
