LTCL

I've always wanted to take LTCL, but only when I've the time and money to afford my own lessons and pay for my own exams.

Sunday's mini concert made me fired up. So many talented students taking diploma now. I spot some with great potential to score distinction for diploma in fact.

I compare with them, and honestly I'm not even that impressive. The only distinction I got during my Abrsm days was Grade 2 Practical, Grade 2 theory and Grade 5 theory. The rest were merit. My technique back then didn't warrant any interest either. I also received B3 for music elective.

So my ATCL was a miracle. It's pretty much a rags to riches story. Also I'm probably the only one who would smile while playing because I enjoy what I do. Kinda belies my cool personality, but I believe music is one of the few ways that can break that outer shell and reveal the carefree side of me.

Next year. As long as I clear up my Saturday afternoons. There are certain Saturdays where I'm not free though, like Cosfest. I'll probably start in March or April. I won't be as busy then. Also I will have a better gauge of my work schedule and travelling time.

Debussy is my victory card, so I'm definitely including him in my repertoire. Now to choose 2 other composers. I was told Haydn or Scarlatti. And the last one a list of 20th century composers like John Ireland, Takemitsu, Ravel. I'm tempted to take Ireland (to avoid being labelled too French) or Takemitsu but it means I need to select my last composer carefully.

I like Ireland's Sarnia.

No one told me it was a suite of 3. And longer than Estampes. The whole suite is almost 20 mins. But I like the songs.

LTCL is 37 to 43 minutes, excluding the break time in between song. So I need to plan carefully.

Donten ni Warau

I finally finished the manga for Donten ni Warau! It's a nice short series.

I ship Tenka and Abe no Sousei so much. SUCH BROMANCE. Bros for life yo. And Tenka with Shirasu. Poor Shirasu. He doesn't want to be forgiven for betraying the Kumou brothers.

If there's anyone I want to cos, it'll be Shirasu. (SOMEONE BE MY TWIN THANKS XD)

Also, if anyone wants Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso, I'll cosplay Arima Kousei. Because I can't find anyone taller than me. Otherwise I'd have picked Kaori.

BUT

Words are cheap. The consequences aren't. Actions aren't.

There are characters whom I may be interested in, but only if friends are also interested. There are also characters who immediately make it to my tentative list. Then there are characters whom I WILL find a time and day to debut, even if it takes years and my interest wanes.

My Q&A with Exile Tribe 01

Q: Imagine you are friends with Gene, language barrier non-withstanding. How would your interactions with the members be like?

I would hold interesting conversations with Ryota and Hayato; Ryota because he's intelligent, and Hayato because he really is good at talking. I would be able to discuss topics with them without feeling bored.

Reo and I can fangirl over Gun-chan and Naoki. I would be quite comfortable with him, to the point of sharing a earpiece and all, even though he's the youngest. Aibro XD

I would laugh and smack Mendy up down left right center for being such a dork. Among all of them, he's the most amusing.

I would hug Yuta everytime I meet him. This awkward shy boy. He brings out the protective older sibling in me.

Actually, Gun-chan is my top favourite. The other 4 are interchangeable. I mean, how to choose between Ryota and Reo? Both are adorable. Naoto and Naoki are like the papas of 3JSB.

I shudder to ship any of them. Coz, no. Brain fart. No.

Best gif ever, Elly. So many times I've attempted such an expression when I deal with kids, unfortunately my eyebrows aren't as impressive. Neither am I that intimidating.

Currently my top favourite in Exile Tribe is Gun-chan. Ryota, Reo, Naoto and Naoki are second. Technically, once I've established my top favourite, the rest are just second place and interchangeable. Hahaha.

I think they forget I'm twice their age. For all they know, I'm only 18. Common misconception hahahahaha. Then again I don't behave like a mature adult who is too tired and stuck-up to join in their games.

Why is there a photo section with 2 boys? They play the rotor toms. I've been teaching them from the start, so I'm slightly more attached to them haha. I have been asked which drum rhythm is my favourite. Definitely rotor tom because it's the most challenging. 

Not as attached as my CVPS P6s of course. No other P6s can compare with my CVPS kids. I've been through SYF practices with them right till the day they achieved distinction in years. They have complained to me countlessly, done stupid things in my presence, and yet can be responsible when the need arises. I have every right to feel proud of such an achievement. I have every right to be slightly more protective of them.

Haha, if I were to choose a style, I'll pick popping and locking, isolation, and maybe breaking. Krump is interesting but not my style. Much as I like Gun-chan, Naoki, Reo and their krumping, I actually like watching Naoto dance.

I apologise if people don't understand what I'm trying to say or imply. Given time to process, I can summarise my words better. But more than half the time I do things in a roundabout manner because my mind is processing the information faster than what my mouth can churn out.

If I have a tendency to repeat myself, I apologise too. Too much essay writing that forces you to support your points can inadvertently alter your thought processing.

Neji's death still eats at my heart. I miss him a lot. He still is my favourite Naruto character.

I haven't been reading. Perhaps, one day, I will read. Or perhaps not.

Maybe to lay off the Spirk fanfics, I'll read Naruto fanfics for the time being. Honestly, until now I still have no idea why I'm so obsessed with Spirk fanfics. I'm not even a trekkie.

November Musings

Since Wednesday, I have been sick. First stomachache for 2 days, then sore throat and flu. Such karma.

I recovered a little on Saturday. And now I feel the beginnings of yet another kind of sore throat and flu.

I'll recover. I must recover. I'll freaking down honey lemon everyday, stay away from spicy food and heaty and fried food, until I am well enough.

Being able to use my sewing machine is bliss. I think that's one of the reasons why I chose to cosplay. The sense of satisfaction when you slowly work your way through the costume preparation, that sense of accomplishment when you eye the completed product. We have our moments of "Yeah another cosplayer is better than me.", but once you dispel those thoughts and are comfortable with yourself, hey, who cares?

I look at other cosplayers, and I strive to be as good or better, at least to my own standards. I learn from them. I also learn where I can improve. I will never be as epic as those armoured cosplays or cosplays with extreme detail, but I am perfectly alright with that. One step at a time. I don't have to engage in crazily detailed costumes.

Right now, as I stare at Pinterest, I just have this urge to improve my sewing and work on refashioning my old clothes. I am a hoarder. I don't like to throw away old things that could be useful. Now, I can even upcycle my old clothes and perhaps save wardrobe space.
