Remembering Mr Lee Kuan Yew

This whole week, we've witnessed the Singaporean spirit. We stood united, regardless of race, language or religion, to pay our last respects to Mr Lee Kuan Yew. We came together as one, as the nation mourned for Mr Lee Kuan Yew. There were many acts of kindness, the support we had for each other. Old and disabled citizens choosing to queue.

Today, the skies finally opened up. Everyone braved the rain to queue. More acts of kindness.

He is now ashes.

RIP, sir. We will always remember you.

Altogether the concert was really lovely. So much better than Anisong, with better acoustics too. All the artists CAN SING. That's very important to me.

My last respects to Mr Lee

Last night, I joined the queue to pay my last respects to Mr Lee Kuan Yew. At that point I couldn't care less that I had to work the next day - transport service had extended to 24 hours. I might fall asleep at work but forty winks and a cup of tea or two should be enough to keep me going.

I managed to enter the Parliament House before 10pm to pay my last respects to a great man.

I still stand by my view - it is not easy to lead a country. There are many things to consider. One may not agree with his decisions, but he gets the job done. The results are important. What works for us may not work for you, so don't say we're dumb, our freedom of speech is restricted etc.

You can call us restrained, we can scoff at how much your freedom of speech has contributed to the country. Is this going to help matters? Does it get things done?

And I agree - you can complain all you like, but where are the proposed solutions? If you want to argue, go ahead, but propose something that you believe can make it better. Don't waste time complaining and criticising for the sake of complaining. You'll just make yourself look like idiots, or superficially smart.

Every time I see something like this, I'm just going to say "So, what are your proposed solutions?"

Context. Decisions.

Don't just say. Do. Don't say things like "I'll try my best." This will just make some hard drivers tell you to "Try harder." Try until you drop. No thanks.

Do your best. The words used make a difference. Back your decisions with actions.

And I swear I'll laugh at anyone who says he's had a good life. He earned them all, you dimwits. Powerful friends? Dude, are you fucking stupid? Friendship has to be forged. Respect and trust has to be earned both ways. Do you think it's easy to gain the trust of someone of a higher position than you just like that, without first proving yourself?

Of course, my views are but one in a billion. I stand by mine, you stand by yours. Why argue as long as shit gets done.

As Mr Lee would probably say, have you finished paying your respects? Now get back to work.

Always the pragmatic person. This is what he made us into, and I'm proud to acknowledge that.

Gun-chan is officially my top favourite in not just 3JSB, but the whole of Exile Tribe. He is adorable and high-maintenance, but admittedly I like how intelligent he is, and how he just doesn't give up when he sets his mind to things. I'm a sucker for idols who are college grads. I wish Naoki had completed his college, and I still want to punch Kenchi even though he has an Electronics and Electrical Engineering degree. If Ryota furthered his education, I'll be super happy too. Because he's pretty smart.

Be at peace, Mr Lee Kuan Yew. You can finally reunite your wife in the heavens.

To a great leader who has shaped a nation, I'm proud to call Mr Lee a great leader I respect a hell lot. I am finally back from Batam with a daunting task - to eventually become a leader of a start-up company. I cannot imagine making all the decisions for a nation, especially back then when there was nothing.

He did what he had to do to shape Singapore into what it is today. Naturally what works for us will not work for other countries, because our values are different, our roots are different. Anyone can complain and ridicule our government and its policies, but you can't let it slide that it worked for us. Even if you diss us, well, we can also ignore you or laugh at how well your country's leadership did for you. We have been shaped to be rather apathetic and this is both our strength and our weakness.

What I learnt is, to be a great leader, you really need to have the foresight, to be ruthless when need be, and to build connections. You can be nice, but when you're busy running the company and managing tons of people, you don't have time to sit down and listen to individual demands. Let alone managing one nation. Decisions cannot please everyone. Suck it up and live with it. If you can see the merit in said decision, good for you.

Of course there are bad leaders, no one can deny that. But mentioning that is just straying from the main point.

You don't have to like or fully agree with Mr Lee's decisions and policies. But you can't deny the fact that he founded this goddamn tiny red dot located near the stupid equator, built our nation from nothing, and put us on the world map. You can't even see us on the atlas, and yet you have at least heard of Singapore that has nothing to do with Pirates of the Caribbean.

I respect Mr Lee. I don't care what you think of him. It isn't my place to care.

RIP Mr Lee Kuan Yew. You will be remembered.

Balloting results are out. I didn't manage to get Blue Planet tickets. Sigh. I picked the day where many will want to go because it's Naoto's birthday. I've no idea how to ballot for general tickets though.

Hmm, Reo mentioned that back then, Ragpound had 9 members. Akira, Naoki, Tetsuya, Reo were inside when it was formed 11 years ago (Reo was only 9). Now, only 4 are left - Twiggz, Akira, Naoki, Reo. So yes, Tetsuya used to krump.

Ryuji and Omi, don't despair. I think Hanabi is a song that defines 3JSB, just like Choo Choo Train defines Exile. Though Ryusei is another choice, seeing how it won such a prestigious award in 2014.

(2014 wasn't a good year for me. Because of that, I aim to make 2015 a better year.)

Japanese netizens, I don't understand your flaming of Ami in 逃走中 150315. From what I know, she surrendered and got the 1,200,000 yen (with like 18 minutes to spare). She wanted to use the money for a good deed. Why are you being asshats about it? Dude, if by surrendering, you get the money which will help you because you want to do a good cause, go ahead man. Unless you tell me the eventual winner, if he/she wins, won't get anything when time is up.

I like Japan, they have many fandoms, I've been there four times already, but I know I'll hate the culture if I were to live there. They have a strict hierarchy, and it usually means you can't fight back because of the senpai-kouhai (senior-junior) hierarchy. Respect has to be earned. Some seniors are assholes and if they dislike you, they'll bully you. It's bad. I don't know how much is represented through the dramas and anime and manga, but they seem pretty consistent.

And they flame. They really can flame. Holy shit. You act passive and nice but behind a screen you're a goddamn keyboard warrior.

They are nice people in general. Of course there'll be the not-so-nice people as well. Dude, it's everywhere.

Yep. I don't want to live there. Convenient for concerts, otherwise it's just a place I'll visit for a short holiday. If my school had offered a semester exchange in Japan I might have taken it already, then at least I'll know what it's like to live there for several months. But nah.

I've decided.

I'm going to spice up my outfit for my cousin's wedding dinner with boot chains and (maybe) chain armlets.

Because bracelets and necklaces and earrings are so passe.

My outfit, which I've yet to buy off taobao (the only thing which caught my eye again and again), is a myriad of dark colours. It's not crazy enough to outshine the main highlights - dude, what the fuck, trying to outshine the stars is just goddamn rude. Well, I'm sick of plain-coloured outfits even though I like them for work. Dude, stand out a bit yeah? Or rather, you don't have to follow the crowd all the time.

I like being unique. I dislike following conventional means all the time. If I can get away with something within my limits, I will.

Music for Your Ears

Listening to music on a good pair of headphones is important. It brings a whole new experience to the music you thought you know and understand.

It's a very pleasant feeling.

Please listen in a quiet environment. You can pick up the nuances better.

I especially love headphones that can pick up the bass. Usually the bass isn't heard as clearly, hence it's always a lovely surprise when you find out how the bass surrounds your ears and wrap the melodies and supporting harmonies.

I guess I have to develop the habit of listening to music when I'm at home. I don't ^^;

(Damn I sound like a translated Japanese text. Please excuse me. I'm simply overwhelmed by the little parts I missed when listening to Love You More.)

Blue Planet ballot

Balloting for the tickets is so troublesome.

If not for my friends, I'll be crying helplessly. Because I don't have close friends living in Japan who can let me use their addresses and phone numbers as a proxy to help me purchase tickets. Or at least, close friends who're on exchange there now.

Such is the process of learning.

I'll be eternally grateful if I do manage to get Blue Planet. I don't even want to try for Exile concert now. Seriously Japan, you are fucking troublesome and exclusive. Maybe it's for crowd control, but it just makes international fans who want to attend the concert hard to get the tickets unless they wait for general sales.

Sometimes, international fans are more willing to throw money at you than you think. You don't have to cater to them - they flock to you because of your style. You attracted them in the first place. There is no need to change what you do best. Or rather, there is no need to please us all the time - we're happy when you recognise international fans, we generally like your style that's why we're here to support you.

Someday I hope LDH sends their artists for a world tour. Please let Gene's World Tour be a success. I really hope to see Exile and Sandaime J Soul Brothers on a world tour one day. You have more international fans than you realise.

But first, Blue Planet. I opted for Seibu Prince Dome August 30. How my December holidays turn out will depend on Sunday's results.

$140 for a concert. Still cheaper than one concert held here, with more goodies too. Then again, I'm willing to throw money at Generations when they come. Please come!

Monday musings

I find myself less inclined to be irritated by things that aren't worth being worked up over. Really, work just mellows people because you're too busy trying not to screw things up at work than to be bothered by the little things in life. I would like to say I pity those who get annoyed by the little things eg bad service, people pushing you on the trains, little brats causing a ruckus, but frankly speaking I can't be bothered unless it affects me.

I have things to help me wind down after a day of hard work. I'm good.

This post is like a follow-up to my Line comment.

Do I sound annoyed? I'm merely stating a fact. I work 2 jobs while I still can, one full-time, one part-time. It beats trying to find something to do at home, which is why I'm not complaining. Rest days are always appreciated. And truth to be told, I GET BORED AFTER WORK. IT SUCKS.

I'm learning to be a leader, and I aim to be an exclusive leader that screams "THIS IS ME FUCK WHOEVER THINKS I'M LIKE SO-AND-SO." The kind who recognises hard work and effort and makes sure you know where I'm coming from when I give comments to help you improve. The thought process. I hate spoon-feeding so obviously I won't do that.

And obviously I don't give a shit about gender - I want your capability, not your body =.= Am I looking for muscle to clean the office or shift heavy boxes everyday? Clean your own goddamn desk and keep it neat. Am I asking you to model some clothes or lingerie for me? Wrong company, go find another.

Wedding Bell

I had a dream two nights ago.

The current Exile Tribe seemed to be on a music variety show. Naoto was describing some backstage event and so engrossed in the story, he didn't notice that the senpai behind him were nudging each other and all. Then, just as he finished his tale, Naoki kissed him on the left cheek. Not a peck, a full lingering kiss like those in dramas where they pause for a certain amount of time.

Then everyone was laughing and cheering and I recalled Gun-chan's jaw dropped. Naoto froze for a while before he pushed Naoki away and screamed at them "OMAETACHI NANDA KORE?" while blushing.

I thought it was cute, the way mama kissed papa in my dream.

Doesn't stop me from waking up and going "WTF just happened?!"

I'm a little dissatisfied with Ryuji's singing at the beginning here. He sounded a little off in the first chorus. Did he forget to breathe more before singing? Omi also. Just before the last chorus. Boys, breathe. The vibrato was lovely though.

Matsu was a lovely touch. He made the performance more enjoyable. Look at them moves.

I'm a sucker for collaborations. Crossover series, collaborations between the LDH groups, collaborations between artists.



I ENJOYED THIS PERFORMANCE. I love the song, it's so fun. And this. OMG BOYS. UNKERS. WHAT ARE YOU DOING.

I'm the kind of fan who just goes "WTF" or "..." but love them all the same.



Peace Sunshine was really fun to watch. Also, their costumes were nice. I'll be biased here, I like Tecchan and Naoki's the best. Simply because they're green and blue respectively. They're colour-coded into the different LDH themes 8D I like how they just went to the audience and posed with them. Lucky fans. It's kinda cute they introduced Usa, Tetsuya and Naoki with the honorifics, and Mendy was just Mendy. Then again, Dream members are all older than him (and me).

Also, Shizuka ^^ I love her singing. Plus she's gorgeous.

Random musings that shouldn't be an essay

Every time I encounter some article discussing feminism, or whatever gender-stuff, I just shrug and roll my eyes. I've changed to the point that I no longer identify myself as female. Possibly genderfluid, but then again terms and labels mean nothing to me.

Firstly, whatever the reason is, I don't really care whether you're male or female, where you hail from, whether you topped the university and became valedictorian or whatever. I care for experience. I care for capability. I care for the amount of hard work you put in. I care about seeing something done. I don't care about sucking up to people. I don't care about saying yes to everything - if I can't do it, I can't.

The argument between people who support feminism and not will continue and if nothing is done, it's all talk. I could be considered a feminist, but only to a certain extent. Equality? Well, if you consider the above paragraph. You do things well, you're capable enough, you will be rewarded accordingly despite your gender. Not people saying "She must be a slut, that's why her position is so high." Then yes, this is the kind of equality I agree with. I'll be amused if I hear "He must be a slut, that's why he manages to rise so quickly." but not surprised. It just shows that the world is changing.

Whether your bosses are male or female, all I care is that they're capable and know what they're doing, what they want. Male or female, if they have earned my respect, I'll willingly follow them. They can be nice, or badass, or strict and book no arguments, but I must see something done. I'm sorry if I sound arrogant, like I'm assessing them, but that's because I am a sucker for capability, to put it bluntly. I acknowledge capable people. If their personality sucks, well, it just means I'll avoid them as much as possible. If they're colleagues with shitty personalities, it means I can also be a bastard to them, provided they treat me like that.

Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. Treat others how you expect to be treated. If they are assholes to you, be an asshole to them. Please bear in mind the ranking and act accordingly. Of course, not everyone will agree with me. For that, I might laud you as saints because I know I'm not one.

After all these digressing, it all boils down to one thing - your capabilities are your own no matter your background and gender. If they're not acknowledged, either find somewhere else who would appreciate your experience, or you work hard and make sure you acquire the skills. It's not easy, I know. Been there done that. But if things don't go your way, either you alter it, or YOU FORCE THEM TO DO IT YOUR WAY. Don't ask me how, it's for you to decide.

My points are but my own. I'm not here to convince people. I'm here to say, I am my own person. You are my friend, you know me, this is what I want you to know and why I behave like this. Who cares about the rest of the world, I'm not famous and frankly speaking I don't give a shit what others think even if I were.

I'm a stronger person than you ever thought. ^^

Exile Casino JP 150304 - Gene's spicy food challenge was really entertaining.

I'd eat the penne arrabiata. I like penne. Also, poor Reo. His spicy food tolerance is so low. And that glare he threw the host when he snatched the bottle from Yuta. Such an adorable boy.

I got an anonymous Tumblr ask in Japanese, telling me to remove one of the posts because the images had LDH watermark. Even with my lousy Japanese, I got the gist of the message.

It was only a reblog, but I obliged, replied (in my basic Japanese of course), and deleted the post.

I speak for myself, not others

I will make this clear once and for all - I rarely ship my favourite characters and artists with others.

Very, very rarely.

Because, the ones I like are usually solitary or don't have enough chemistry with others or are just meant to be alone. Or I just don't ship them with anyone.

This doesn't apply to the rest. I speak only for myself.

Then, I will somehow find one who is the bicycle, someone who can be shipped with more than one person. He or she may be my second or third favourite, or not even one of my favourites, but just so happens I see all kinds of interaction and boom.

If I do get OTPs, it means I really really like the chemistry between them, I like the interactions, and I will accept anything as long as they are inside.

Keitty and I have different top OTPs, and this is fine by us. In Exile, she likes Tetsuya/Naoto more than Naoto/Naoki because they're adorable together. I admit this is true - Tecchan and Naoto are adorable. I do like this pair. Why I ship Naoto/Naoki more is because they have a lot of chemistry. Such polar opposites and yet they complement each other so well. Their interactions can be anything.

We accept each other's OTPs because we see the logic in them. We will even write fics for each others' OTPs (though so far I can't think of any TxN ones. Only OT3. Give me more time.) And this, I believe, should be mutual acceptance without going into pairing wars commonly found among fujoushi, or at least, fans with a certain favourite pairing and cannot accept other variations.

But of course there will be pairings we don't even ship. For example, KENCHI GO AWAY. GO TO YOUR WAIFU. TAKAHIRO, HANDS OFF PAPA. GO BACK TO YOUR WAIFU.

The center of Keitty's ship is Naoto. Mine's Naoki. What's there to argue about? Don't be ridiculous.

They'll always be known as papa and mama no matter what ship they find themselves in, because we agree they are married.

The Piano Guys - 13 April, Star Theatre 8pm

Naruto musical - June 6, RWS Theatre 7pm (most likely)

And I'm definitely splurging on Gene and 3JSB. Please schedule Gene's world tour and 3JSB's Blue Planet dome tour to the later half of the year.

I guess I should have to set aside money for these...and spend less on things I don't need.

But hey, if I get to see Exile Tribe, I think it'll be worth it. Max Matsuura and Hiro, please send Exile Tribe on a world tour please. (I use Exile Tribe as a loose term for Exile, 3JSB and Gene. Because it's shorter and I don't have to keep typing everything out. After all I like all three.) I want to meet them in person.
